PRP for Hair

- Men and women are losing their hair due to age and other factors. While pattern baldness is genetic, it doesn’t mean you have to live your entire life without hair. However, PRP hair treatment takes a longer and more scientific approach to address the problem.
PRP Treatment
- PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma treatment. In this treatment blood is drawn from your body and centrifuged. This separates your blood into red blood cells as well as plasma.
- This plasma is rich in platelets and then injected into the required areas of the scalp. Platelets are filled with special proteins called growth factors they have shown to be effective for hair growth. The injections are not painful. Patient may need repeat injection after six weeks. It may need maintenance treatment six months later.
- However, not everyone is a candidate for PRP therapy. Hereditary hair loss patients seem to be responding well.
- It works better for those who have experienced recent hair loss, as opposed to those who have lost hair a long time ago and have dormant hair follicles.
