Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is commonly referred to as the eyelid surgery, can be done on lower, upper eyelids or both. This can be done with the brow lift.

Eyelid Surgery –Upper& Lower

Eyelid surgery removes puffiness and bagging underneath the eyes. Skin in the lower eyelid is especially thin. Right under the eyelid skin, a muscle layer is positioned, separated from the fatty tissues by a special membrane. With age, both of them get weaker and sag. Deposits of fat get repositioned in response to this, which causes puffiness and drooping. Skin itself gets changed with age. Collagen and elastin, which normally give support to the skin, become broken down, making the skin less elastic and lax. Additionally, eyebrows usually get drooped with age and cause the upper eyelids to sag.

Eyelid Surgery –Upper& Lower

Blepharoplasty includes replacing or reshaping deposits of fat, also removing excess skin, as well as muscle tissues, thus improving the contours of the eyes. This operation is most often performed under local anesthesia and sedation. If required, general anesthesia can be administered. Markings for incisions are following the natural lines of upper eyelids so that resulting scars are as hidden as possible. Some bruising, swelling and pain are to be expected after the treatment. Post operative cold compression is advised.
