Tuberous Breast Correction

Tubular breast is the condition in which breast tissue has not developed properly during puberty. This condition is also called tuberous breast or breast hypoplasia. tuberous breast or breast hypoplasia.

Tubular breasts cannot be considered rare because many women do not seek treatment. Women with Tubular breast will have difficulty in breastfeeding.

Symptoms

  • Tubular breasts will have lack of breast tissue in both the vertical and horizontal directions.

  • Tubular breasts tend to have a gap of more than 1.5 inches between them. The area that surrounds the nipple may appear to be constricted. The dark area of the areola may appear to be enlarged. A pair of tubular breasts often lacks symmetry and one will appear noticeably larger than the other. Instead of a round appearance, tubular breasts may appear to be pointed and oval shaped
  • Tubular breasts will not be visible until puberty during which breasts take on their adult shape. In almost all cases, the ring of tissue that connects the areola to the rest of the breast is not shaped the way it should be. This leads to a “droopy” appearance.

Tubular breast surgery

  • Correction is usually done in two steps under general anesthesia.


      1. To release the constricted ring of breast tissue.
      2. To insert either a tissue expander or a breast implant

    The tissue expander, if used, will be removed and a breast implant will be kept in its place

Aftercare

Swelling will be present until three to four weeks after the surgery. You need to avoid cardiovascular exercises for at least 12 weeks

Risks?

  • The surgery does carry the risk of bleeding, infection, or scarring. Some people lose sensation in their nipples.
